The efficacy of prayer
The work which we do becomes very effective when we strongly feel the immediate presence of God, who is watching our actions. It is not just imagination that God is omnipresent. Do not fail to perform your daily prayers both morning and evening. One who has begun the day with a heartfelt prayer shall certainly have a very peaceful day throughout. In case unobserved thoughts or actions creep into the subconscious due to contact with the evolutes of prakriti, then during the evening prayer and meditation root out those thoughts and never allow them to stay in the mind. One who has kept his account clear, the account of merit and sin, by cleansing the sinful propensities every day, remains peaceful and strong enough to meet the challenges of life with equanimity. He, indeed, is capable of distributing his peace and love to each and every one.
In the beginning man might feel that he cannot think of God and work at the same time, but later he will feel that the remembrance of God gives constant strength for him to do the work effectively. Just as breathing is continued in the midst of all activities, similarly meditation on God can be continued spontaneously. Then work becomes worship. Practice this, and be thou a yogi.
